North Carolina Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. Adam M. Starr is absolutely thrilled to be practicing as an orthopedic hand surgeon for the Community of Asheville after more than a decade practicing orthopedic surgery and 25 years serving our country. He graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy and Tulane University School of Medicine, earning the honor of serving as Chief Resident during his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at UMDNJ- Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. He then completed an orthopedic trauma fellowship at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, England followed by a hand surgery fellowship at Brown University.

Dr. Starr served as an Orthopedic Hand surgeon at the San Antonio Military Medical Center and at Asheville Orthopedic Associates prior to joining the staff at Carolina Hand & Sports Medicine in October of 2021. He currently is a member of the Society of Military Orthopedic Surgeons, a Diplomate in the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons, a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and a member of the American Society for Surgery of the hand.

As a Fellowship trained hand surgeon, Dr. Starr’s focus is on injuries and disease of the fingers, hand, wrist, forearm and elbow.

When not working Dr. Starr enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. Together they travel, hike, ski and generally enjoy the many outdoor activities that Asheville has to offer.
